Sky Opens Inventory to Amazon Ads
2026-10-06
Television's walled garden just lost a wall. Sky Media has placed Sky streaming inventory and audience access in the UK and Ireland inside Amazon Ads Agent, giving advertisers a route to entertainment, drama, live sport and news across Sky channels and shows. This is distribution with teeth. The arrangement joins broadcaster video supply to an advertising system built around audience signals.
The commercial prize is larger than convenience. Brands can leverage a single buying environment to place campaigns against Sky programming while using Amazon Ads tools; the attraction is a tighter closed-loop between audience selection, delivery and reported results. The moat is access. For Sky, the deal turns audience reach into inventory that agency teams may discover and activate with less friction. For Amazon Ads, it adds broadcaster video to its UK and Irish offer without owning the programming.
That does not erase a zero-sum fight for video budgets. It sharpens it, because marketers will compare Sky placements with other connected television and digital video buys through familiar workflows rather than separate sales routes. The cost of hesitation is fragmented spend and weaker evidence of return. Move now: test Sky audiences, set incrementality controls, and judge whether the added supply improves reach without inflating frequency.
